Privacy Policy

At Chuja ("chuja - Photos On This Day"), your privacy is fundamental to everything we build. This Privacy Policy explains how the Chuja app ("App"), developed by Remmy (bundle ID: com.remmy.chuja), handles your information.
1. The Short Version
Your photos never leave your device. Chuja does not collect, store, or transmit your photos or personal data. There are no user accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. The only external service is RevenueCat for subscription management, which uses anonymous identifiers.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
Chuja does not collect:
- Your photos, videos, or any media files
- Personal information (name, email, phone number)
- Location data
- Contacts or address book data
- Camera or microphone data
- Browsing or usage history sent to external servers
- Analytics or tracking data
3. Permissions We Request
Chuja requests only the following permissions:
- Photo Library (Read): "Chuja needs access to your photo library to find memories from this day in previous years. Your photos are never uploaded — everything stays on your device."
- Photo Library (Write/Delete): "Chuja needs write access to delete photos you choose to remove. No photos are sent to the cloud."
- Notifications: To schedule daily reminder notifications locally on your device.
Chuja does not request access to your camera, location, contacts, microphone, or any other device capabilities.
4. Photo Library Access
Chuja reads your photo library to surface photos taken on today's date in previous years. Your photos are:
- Read directly from your device's photo library
- Never uploaded to any server or cloud service
- Never shared with third parties
- Cached locally only as asset IDs and dates for performance — no actual image data is cached
5. Photo Deletion
When you delete photos through Chuja, the App uses iOS's standard photo deletion APIs. Deleted photos are moved to the "Recently Deleted" album and can be recovered for up to 30 days. iOS displays a system confirmation dialog before any deletion — Chuja cannot bypass this safeguard.
6. Notifications
If you enable daily reminders, notifications are scheduled locally on your device using iOS's notification system. No notification data is sent to external servers. You can disable notifications at any time through the App's settings or your device's Settings app.
7. On-Device Storage
Chuja stores the following data locally on your device:
- Photo cache: Cached photo query results (asset IDs and dates only — no actual images)
- Delete cart: Photos you've queued for deletion
- Preferences: Notification times, onboarding completion, and tutorial flags
- Subscription state: Cached subscription status and paywall display flags
- Streak data: Your daily review streak counter, stored securely in your device's Keychain
All of this data is stored locally using AsyncStorage and iOS Keychain (SecureStore). None of it is transmitted externally.
8. Third-Party Services
Chuja integrates with one third-party service:
- RevenueCat: Used solely for subscription management and purchase validation. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID (not linked to your identity) and purchase receipts from Apple. RevenueCat does not receive your photos, personal information, or any other app data. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
Chuja does not integrate with any analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking services. The App does not contain ads.
9. Subscriptions
Chuja offers "Chuja Pro" subscriptions ($3.99/month or $19.99/year with a 3-day free trial). Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and validated via RevenueCat. Chuja does not have access to your payment information, Apple ID, or billing details. Apple's and RevenueCat's respective privacy policies govern their handling of payment data.
10. Children's Privacy
Chuja is rated 4+ on the App Store as it contains no objectionable content. Since we collect no personal data, the App is safe for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
